Well as the temperatures outside bounce around between cold, very cold and really really cold my list compiling for places to visit goes on. Buxton, the Derbyshire spa town has been added to the 2023 list. It’s a rail journey I enjoy, travelling out from Manchester, through Stockport, the urban and industrial sprawl gets left behind as the rain labours its way up the hills and into the Derbyshire Peak District. The town is compact and has a wide range of attractions. It’s a magnet for the walkers who want to lose themselves in the serenity of the hills and the day trippers who want a change of scene for a few hours, enjoy the Pavilion Gardens with an ice cream or a cake and a tea or coffee.
