Well as the temperatures outside bounce around between cold, very cold and really really cold my list compiling for places to visit goes on. Buxton, the Derbyshire spa town has been added to the 2023 list.

BUXTON. In The Winter Garden.
A jewel in the Peak District, Buxton sits high in the Pennine range of hills that reach down through England from the Scottish Border. A Spa town it attracted the titled, the famous and is still today a magnet for tourists.
BUXTON. The Well Dressed Well.
A feature of the Derbyshire Peak District is the ceremony of well dressing. It’s a custom with some history, dating back in some areas to the 1800’s, it and is a celebration of and a thank you for the plentiful supply of fresh water from the many wells that issue from the natural limestone of the area.

SNAPSHOT. Bakewell. On The Farmers Market.
The day has continued. I arrived in Buxton quite handily for the bus down to Bakewell. The really helpful bus driver pointed out that the day ticket was not only cheaper than two single tickets but it also covered a bigger area. So game on and first stop Bakewell. It’s a Saturday, the days are drawing in, gathering their duvets about them ahead of the long march through winter.
