BOLTON. Fountain Watching On A Warm Evening.

Well here in the UK summer has sort of decided to put in and appearance, the temperatures are certainly on the up, though there is still the occasional rain shower to stop everybody enjoying things too much.

I was walking through Bolton a couple of evenings ago, on my way to meet up with friends. Bolton’s a Lancashire market town with a heritage in the cotton and engineering industries. It also has a marvellous market, a proper old fashioned one that sells things you want, not things you just look at.

I was on Victoria Square where the town hall stands proudly. Its a Victorian wedding cake of a building, from a time when civic pride showed itself in carved stone and impressive clock towers. The entrance to the building is up a flight of steps that Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers would look out of lace dancing down. In turn these are flanked with fountains, which on this evening were burbling gently away as the heat leached back out of the sun baked buildings on the square.

All in all it was a very pleasant way to pass a moment or two, just listening to the water dancing down.
