On a sun kissed day Chester is a fine and pretty place. I took myself off there a few days ago just to have a wander around the city inside the walls and take in the atmosphere, coffee and cake would also be on the agender.

As always I travelled there by train and my preferred route into the city takes me along Brook Street, Frodsham Street and onto Northgate Street. This stretch is part pedestrianised and on this sunny day the crowds made their different ways about beneath the half timbered rows that are such a feature of this part of Chester.

Music was also in the air, musicians had set up on the street to charm the crowds and won applause from the appreciative crowds.
Later I made my way down to the Groves alongside the River Dee. Here, underneath the shade of the trees is a bandstand, a regular haunt for live music. Again a crowd sat in the shadow of the trees, ate ice cream and enjoyed the music on offer. A nice way to chill and relax on a sunny Saturday afternoon in July.
