Right, arrival at Carlisle has been achieved. So after a few photos on the station for my stock photography sideline it’s off into the city for coffee and food. Right, an alteration to plans. I believe there’s a Carnival parade on in Maryport today so I’m heading out there, it’s about forty five minutes by train down the coast. It
Sometimes, without you knowing it, a scene just clicks itself together and magically presents itself before you.

Drop off the tram by the North Euston Hotel, cross the road to the promenade and by the big chippy you’ll find the ramp down to the Wyre Ferry.

A fair proportion of my trips out are on the spontaneous side. I do have a list of possible destinations but the final decision is often made on the day, taking in what the weather is likely to be or what the travelling conditions could be like.
