The new year is beginning to pick up speed. Still one or two things hanging around from its predecessor but that’s nothing new.

The snow falls gently on to Newton le Willows railway station. A train to Chester is due. Right, Christmas is now jingling away into the distance leaving behind a trail of gifts, wrapping paper, empty glasses and slightly mangled decorations blowing in the breeze. When last we spoke I had just eaten my emergency pork pie, blundered there it was gorgeous, I should have bought two (possibly three?) and I was making my way back along the Bay to Morecambe and the train home.

Dear readers you find me in Preston, Lancashire, UK. I am heading north to Lancaster and then on to Morecambe on the beautiful Morecambe Bay. We’re now in the long stretch of the short, blink and you miss them days, so I’m making the most of every opportunity to get out into whatever sunshine is on offer. On the next leg, the day unfolds.
