Good morning to you all from the Merseyrail platform at Liverpool Lime Street. I’m on my way to Chester to see how far the rebuilding of the new market hall is progressing. The Autumn is beginning to creep up, the day’s are beginning to shorten, slice by wafer thin slice.

Standing just off the Square proper is the tall, red brick tower of Hamilton Square Railway station.
Down by the Pier Head on Mann Island sits the headquarters of RIBA North, The Royal Institute of British Architects. The building is a brooding mass of black glass and angularity, a Bond villain lair by the Mersey.
