NEWCASTLE. Going Down The Dene.

A little way to the north east of the city centre lies the beautiful wooded valley of Jesmond Dene, the waters of the Ouseburn flowing through on their way to meet the Tyne.

Summer evenings have their own special magic. As the sun settles itself away for a nights sleep the colours soften away from the days harshness and take on a gentle glow.

More combing through the files looking for travel inspiration for this coming year. I travel up to Newcastle upon Tyne from time to time and a favourite place to break the journey, yes cake and coffee, is the Cumbrian market town of Brampton.

January is beginning to pack it’s bags ready to wave goodbye for another year. February is on the horizon with a promise of days starting to lengthen and hopefully more regular visits from Mr. Blue Sky. Well we can hope can’t we.

Well as the temperatures outside bounce around between cold, very cold and really really cold my list compiling for places to visit goes on. Buxton, the Derbyshire spa town has been added to the 2023 list.

If you take the road or the train out towards Oban you’ll pass Dalmally and Loch Awe. Sat brooding by the shore of the loch is Kilchurn Castle.
