Okay, so picking up from the Kirkby Lonsdale entry. I landed back into Lancaster in the early evening. It was dark now though the rain had eased quite a bit. I needed the bus out to Morecambe and my B&B but as they are quite frequent I thought I’d take a walk around the celebrations for the switching on of the city’s Christmas lights, grab something to eat and a drink etc.

The main event stage was up in front of the Museum, a stately building that was once the town hall. The bands were playing, the lights were sparkling and despite the day’s grim weather people were having fun.

The events and entertainments were spread around, on Dalton Square her late Majesty Queen Victoria had an ice rink for company as well as a selection of the usual food outlets and a Big Wheel.

I couldn’t resist the lure of a bratwurst as I trotted around the crowds, taking in the sounds, smells and sights. I also enjoyed a drink in one of my favourite places, not saying where I don’t want to be hounded by autograph hunters ( yeah right ).

Then it was back to the bus station across the river and back out to Morecambe on the coast. I freshened up in my very comfortable and hospitable B&B then relaxed the rest of the night away.
Result.
