Autumn has packed it’s bags. The showy reds and golds of the trees are all but gone for another year to be replaced by the cool, grey sternness of another winter.

Sometime you know that you just have to get out of the house, no matter what chores are calling out to be done or what state the weather is in.

Sheffield is a favourite destination. I’m no expert of the South Yorkshire city but I’m working on it. It’s a relatively easy place for me to get to. By car, if I have to, I take the route through Derbyshire and the Snake Pass. The preferred option though is the train. There’s a regular through service from Warrington which is straightforward for me to get to.

When I want a walk, a bit of fresh air and a beautiful view all rolled into one, Grange over Sands is one of the places I head to.

Any of you readers who soldier on with my blog will have noticed that I have a liking for parks and gardens. Astley Hall and its Park is a favourite of mine that’s not too far away from where I live.

Travel is still on the problematical side so I’m going to take a journey in my time travelling blog back to July of 2019 and a day trip I made down to Cardiff.
