CHESTER. A Day With a Toastie And Some Beer.

The River Dee sweeps round by the Groves. Not the sunniest of days but better than sitting at home counting the flowers on the wallpaper.

It’s never a good thing to let a day go to waste, even if you don’t at the end do a great lot with it. I had a day like that a few days ago, mooching around the house for a couple of hours I decided to get out of the house and took a train ride out to Chester.

It’s an easy journey and I do tend to end up in the city quite often. On this day I had no particular agenda in mind, it was a Saturday and the following day I was going up to Fleetwood for the Tram Sunday transport event so I thought I’d keep things local-ish and low key.

So I did.

Just a quiet stroll around with a bite to eat and a drink or two.

My toastie of choice at the Little Yellow Pig in the city centre on Godstall Road. They also have a place out a Hoole on Charles Street.
The Little Drummer by Chester Cross at the top of Bridge Street and Watergate Street. Come rain, come shine he beats out that rhythm on the drum.
Grosvenor Park. The big wheel will keep on turning through to the beginning of November.
Time to catch a breath in the Brewery Tap on Lower Bridge Street.
The writing’s on the wall for even more choices.
A little bit of the Baronial splendour the surrounds you in the Brewery Tap.

And like Arnie, I’ll be back.
