BANGOR. The Lion On The Wall.

I took a trip into North Wales at the weekend. Train into Bangor then the bus onward to Caernarvon. The weather could have been a little kinder but it was a day out and there were photos to track down.

I took a trip into North Wales at the weekend. Train into Bangor then the bus onward to Caernarvon. The weather could have been a little kinder but it was a day out and there were photos to track down.

There’s something about a railway station in the evening for me. An ethereal layer that lurks just below the bustle and hustle of large numbers of people on the move. A quiet rhythm of something biding it’s time, waiting, watching.

The day has continued. I arrived in Buxton quite handily for the bus down to Bakewell. The really helpful bus driver pointed out that the day ticket was not only cheaper than two single tickets but it also covered a bigger area. So game on and first stop Bakewell. It’s a Saturday, the days are drawing in, gathering their duvets about them ahead of the long march through winter. So I’m out and about making the most of a so far drizzly day, heading across, under actually, the Pennines to Buxton in that Derbyshire. There may be a trip out to Bakewell too. A Little while ago I took a trip out to Hull on the east coast. Things had begun the long return to normal and I needed to visit a place I either hadn’t been to before or hadn’t been to for a long time. After a bit of head scratching and no I didn’t get any splinters in my fingers, I decided on a revisit to Hull.

I took a ride out to Lytham at the weekend and what began as an indifferent day blossomed into a glorious afternoon and evening. A favourite spot on my visits, apart from places selling coffee & cake, is Lowther Gardens just off the town centre and home to the lovely Lowther Pavilion theatre.
