CHORLEY. A Blooming Good Show.

In the UK summer is a fickle mistress at the best of times, so scheduling an open air event can mean you’re living a bit dangerously but it’s something we natives have just got used to. All of that said, this weekend past I went along to the fifth annual Chorley flower show, held as always in the grounds of the delightful Astley Hall, a large manor house dating from […]

LIVERPOOL. A Visit From A Queen.

There was a Royal visitor to the River Mersey this week, Cunard’s Queen Mary II, currently the largest cruise liner afloat at 79,000 tonnes. Don’t worry I won’t be hitting you over the head with long lists of facts and figures. Just selection of images from the evening. As always I travelled there by train and my preferred route into the city takes me along Brook Street, Frodsham Street and onto Northgate […]

FRODSHAM. Castle Park – Two Views.

A thought I always have to ponder when going through my shots at the end of one of my expeditions is whether the final shot works better in colour or black and white. Pre digital it was a case of me carrying two film bodies, one loaded with colour the other generally with my favourite Ilford HP5. Shots were taken with whichever film I felt suited the mood of the […]

HESKIN. Big Boys Toys.

This is a picture heavy post but there’s really no other way of giving a true flavour of the event. For the last few years a regular fixture on my calendar has been the Vintage & Steam Rally and Country Fair. Held near the village of Heskin, to the south of Preston in Lancashire. This year’s was the 27th holding of the two day get together of vehicles and agricultural […]
