ARNSIDE. Coffee, Toasted Teacake & A View Of The Bay.

A Few days ago I took a trip up to the annual Dickensian Christmas Festival in the pretty Cumbrian market town of Ulverston. It’s a riot of an event, the whole town gets into the spirit of the thing and the narrow winding streets and market square of the town only add to the atmosphere of the two day event. It’s popular, very popular. I made the blunder on my […]

LLANDUDNO. Onward to the Seaside!

Okay, bear with me a moment. A couple of posts ago I was working through a day trip into North Wales, to Conwy and on to Llandudno. I’d posted about Conwy and my walk around the town and its walls. Then I’d posted on L’s the Cafe cum bookshop and the excellent bacon roll I’d eaten there. Important thing a good bacon roll, blogging is hard work you know. I’d […]

BUXTON. A Temple On A Hill.

A favourite destination of mine is the Derbyshire Spa town of Buxton. It’s a relatively easy rail journey from where I live and an enjoyable one too. MANCHESTER. To The Christmas Markets!

Christmas is on it’s way, the decorations and trees are starting to appear and the Christmas Markets have started opening up. Living not too far away from Manchester it’s an easy journey for me to get there and take in the sights, sounds and smells of the market. That heady seasonal mix of brightly coloured lights, carols, cinnamon, hot chocolate and fried onions & bratwurst. The Manchester markets are ever […]

BIRKENHEAD. A Walk In The Park.

Following on from my Hamilton Square post. I walked out of the Square and down through to the shopping centre area. By the way, I had a bite to eat at Samuels, its just off the Square, you pass it as you’re coming from Hamilton Square station. It’s a nice and cosy place, great breakfasts and lunches. It’s on my list ( I have a little list etc ) I […]

BIRKENHEAD. On Hamilton Square.

Standing proudly by the River Mersey is the town of Birkenhead, though not perhaps as well known as Liverpool, its over the water neighbour, it does have many an interesting corner and a history all of it’s own. I hadn’t been over that way for a little while so I freed up a day and took the train into Liverpool and out again, under the Mersey to Hamilton Square station […]
