I’m lucky in that I live within an easy striking distance of the English Lake District. It’s either a couple of hours or so in the car or a similar journey time by train to Windermere. Obviously it’s a popular destination which can make the roads busy so I have a preference for using the train. Not everyone’s cup of tea but it makes it worthwhile if I’m speeding along on the train and I pass traffic jams on the motorway’s or other roads.
Todmorden Market is one of my favorites, a proper market where you can buy things you want, not a recycled one where you can have scented candles in as many flavours as you want but not a whole lot else. Another day out on the other side of the Pennines starts with an arrival at Sheffield’s station down below the city centre. Being out and about enjoying yourself can be an exhausting business so after a walk around the cathedral and castle I carried on up the street and came across Cafe Misto.
