Should you find yourself in the English county town of Lancaster you could does than to take yourself off to the John O’ Gaunt pub ( other pubs are available) . I made my second visit this week and it was just as much fun as the previous one. I think it may be becoming a habit. I could think of worse ……. There’s the old song about counting the flowers that grow in an English garden, leaning on the idyllic image of the old, low cottage with roses around the door,

One of the delights of travelling in and around Manchester, well for me anyway, is the City’s Metrolink trams system. The yellow beasts trundle through the city centre and then out into the outlying suburbs and towns. The total route is something approaching sixty five miles with just under a hundred stops.

I took a ride over to Chorley today, the annual Flower Show was in progress and it’s an event I really enjoy. I’m no great garden expert, what I know about flowers you could write on a piece of paper small enough to fit in a frogs ear. While I’m not a great fan of getting wet there is sometimes a bit of magic to be had walking amongst the flowers on a rainy day.
