Steamroller Advance gets ready to take part in the steam parade on Mostyn Street.
Well here’s a bit of a Saturday photobomb from the recent Bank Holiday weekend. I spent the day in Llandudno on the North Wales coast as it was the resort’s annual Victorian Extravaganza Weekend.
The weather had decided to be in a genial, welcoming mood which did its bit to help bring the crowds in to enjoy the three day event.
Anyway they say a picture is worth a thousand words so I’ll shut up and bring them on.
Alice’s White Rabbit hurries along from the railway station not wanting to miss any of the action!Mostyn Street in the heart of the town, pick your ride. The North Western Gardens on Mostyn Street, dominated by the Big Wheel. It’s not a proper day out if you don’t win a Big Bear. This way for the Big Wheel! There’s always time to pause for food.I think this is being added to his Christmas list. It’s such a pity that so many towns ripped out their tram systems or made it so difficult/expensive to rebuild them, same with the railways, no thought of mothballing routes or future proofing them. The car became king. I imagine this would have been quite an entertaining ride along to Colwyn Bay. A John Fowler machine, “Plain But Proud” steams gently in the sunshine.Pandora waits patiently in line for the traction parade. If they haven’t got a Waltzer it aint a proper fairground.Yes DONUTS! A vital part of any event day out. Big Balloons.
After a couple of hours haunting the main street I headed out to the seafront and the promenade to get a change of location and a bit more space. The weather was still holding good and on the front the breeze acquired a lovely, crisp edge, that blew away the smells of burgers, candyfloss etc. The stretch along by the War Memorial and the Pier entrance was a popular spot for many to catch their breath and relax for a moment or two before heading back into the fun.
Down to the Pier on the right or find a seat on the left for the next Punch & Judy Show. Ahh, a chance to share a quiet moment away from the hubbub and just watch the waves. Getting down to the Pier was a bit of a challenge Taking in the view and the sea breezes. The Pavilion at the end of the Pier.I’m not sponsored but the meal deal does come in handy for the journey home.Looks like someone’s been here before me.
Okay, I did say it was going to be a bit of a photo bomb and this is only a small selection of the shots I took. The dates for next years event will be going in my diary and I’ll put a link in the information below.
