Trundling homeward now, just whittling away the minutes until the train arrives. As station buildings go Shrewsbury does have some class. Built by the Great Western Railway it has the imposing presence of an abbey. Right, electric scribbling over, the train is scuttling into the platform. Enjoy your evening all. Chester is a place where history on is writ large, you walk around surrounded by the past’s echoes, from Roman times onwards. Today as I walked along Eastgate Street a dance of the old times went on in the sunshine. Times when the other world was a bit nearer and less hidden away in corners and mists.

To continue the day. I arrived in Chester and decided to take a walk over to Hoole, it’s only a few minute walk from the railway station, it’s an area that was scheduled for demolition but wiser heads prevailed and it’s now an area of interesting independent shops.
