As any readers of these ramblings of mine will know I do like a market, a proper one where you can buy things you need as much as things you want. Not an imposter that is only one in name, a glorified shopping mall and food court, generally sitting where a proper market used to be. One of my favourites is Chorley. I had a couple of things to collect so to keep on the move on a cold day I travelled over to the town.

I sorted out my bits of business and then had a walk around, being a Tuesday it was Flat Iron Market day, this is an extra bit of Tuesdays only market that used to be held on a nearby car park but now threads its way though the pedestrianised streets in the town centre. It’s a good mix and lively with it, some Christmas shopping will be sorted there before too long.

Now to the pie. One of my favourite eating places is Bee’s Country Kitchen, just by the town centre. So having sorted my stuff I headed off over for some lunch. The special was a steak and ale pie with gravy, veg and of course chips. I excused the calories by reason of the cold weather is hitting and I needed the extra insulation. Well that’s my excuse and I’ll stick to it as well as banging the drum for local markets and the produce they sell.
