Time’s meat slicer is beginning to shave away at the days as the end of the year sneaks in on the quiet. I fancied a trip out, not too long, before the days turn into the annual “blink and you’ll miss them” short bursts of sunlight fighting for attention between great walls of murk. To that end I picked Bangor, the university town in North Wales as my destination, it’s a long enough journey to sit back and enjoy but not too long that the sunlight disappears and fades. There’s also the added benefit of Domu, a vegetarian restaurant that I have a liking for. I hadn’t managed a visit for a while, the usual scenario, you make plans to the sound of celestial laughter, so I decided to buck the trend and made my way over to Bangor. The train journey is also a treat, traveling as it does along the North Wales coast. I arrived, walked down the hill from the station and took a seat. It was a cool day so I went for the borcht and a slice of a spinach and feta filled unleavened bread, to go with it an orange and Rooibos tea.

So that was my Domu day out, well worth the effort, will be doing it again before too long.
