Well here in the UK, the August Bank Holiday has been upon us, you can tell that because the weather has been on the unfriendly side yet again. Nevertheless events have been held and people have been out and about, braving whatever rains down from the skies.
An event I had a taster of was the annual Bolton Food Festival ( see shat I did there?)

Spreading through the town centre the food fest is a riot of colours and edible temptations. Smells come at you from all sides, from the hefty kick of onions frying for the burgers, to the punch of garlic, strong enough to cause the pigeons fall out of the skies and make them walk the pavements in a daze, plus weaving in and out of this hefty cloud are the subtle hints of ginger, chilli and other exotic spices. The ones that tease the nose and make it send desperate messages to the stomach along with instructions to the feet to find that stall.

Then there’s the street acts, chefs on stilts, strolling bands and a giant chicken. I kid you not and I have photographic proof.

I enjoyed the day thoroughly and came home fatter than I went out and smelling of a most unusual aftershave, the sort of scent that makes you hungry and incites a bit of fridge raiding.

Next years event has been noted, better start the diet now.
