SHREWSBURY. Lunch & Then Some Walking.

Steak & fries at the quirky and excellent Birds Nest Cafe in Shrewsbury Market.

When we spoke last I was just enjoying a reviving coffee and toast at the Shrewsbury Coffee House. My posts today have been a bit sporadic, a sort of electronic constipation. My mobile, for some reason, has decided it would rather be an amusing paperweight instead of a communication device. It and I will be discussing this tomorrow.

The market hall. Great place to shop and people watch.

From the coffee house I took a walk down Pride Hill before heading off towards the River at English Bridge. The River Severn makes an elegant loop around the town, making the centre an intricate teardrop of streets. A great place for an extended game of hide and seek and home to an interesting selection of eateries.

Pride Hill in the sun. The crowds are out and the Market Hall clock beckons in the distance. I’m heading towards my steak and fries pictured above.
The Square with the Old Market Hall, home to a cinema and a comfortable coffee house.
It’s a hot day, there’s a queue at the Gelato place!
A whole bag of cannoli, hmm tempting.
And as if waistlines weren’t under enough stress this is the weekend of the Food Festival.

That’s my day so far. A bit more to come.
