BIRKENHEAD. The Market, A Bacon Butty, The Park & A Squirrel

Thursday last was one of those days. I was at home trying to work through stuff but I knew that I wasn’t making any real progress. Days like this come and go so I’ve developed an approach that works for me. If I’m not getting anywhere with the days jobs, I just leave it and go out for a couple of hours, come back and start again. I know not everybody has the luxury of downing tools when they want to this is just me and my situation.

KESWICK. Taking A Bus Ride.

I’m lucky in that I live within an easy striking distance of the English Lake District. It’s either a couple of hours or so in the car or a similar journey time by train to Windermere. Obviously it’s a popular destination which can make the roads busy so I have a preference for using the train. Not everyone’s cup of tea but it makes it worthwhile if I’m speeding along on the train and I pass traffic jams on the motorway’s or other roads.

RIVINGTON. Sunlight And Old Stones.

High on the sometimes bleak West Pennine Moors in between the Lancashire towns of Horwich and Chorley there’s a hilltop rich in trees, with here and there the remains of buildings showing through. These are the Terraced Gardens, the creation of local businessman William Lever, later 1st Viscount Leverhulme.
