Inspired by a friend’s recent visit to the town I chose Skipton, market town and North Yorkshires gateway to the Dales. I travelled over by train, a favoured mode of transport, yes I know a glutton for punishment but to be fair I’ve had a lot more good journeys than bad. The route was up to Lancaster then across through Carnforth ” yes Brief Encounter territory ” then across the Pennines, joining the bottom of the Settle & Carlisle route before dropping into Skipton.

I don’t know how you are but do you sometimes get a morning that simply won’t move out of neutral and get into gear? Breakfast is eaten, the dishes done and put away, a last cup of coffee gets slurped away and then………………….

Right the weather has gone back into roulette mode so its a bit of a gamble going out but if you wait for the weather in the UK you would would never go out. So that said I decided on a trip out to Coniston in the Lake District, I hadn’t been out that way for quite a while so it would be an interesting catch up.
